If you want to read, just add all of the relays. If you want to write add all of the relays. If you want to filter dm's dont include free relays sending you dm's. Your settings having greater impact as opposed to paying for a free relay or 2.

Exaggerated a bit but paid relays only so so much. Client filtering is more impactful.
