Forgiveness is a concept from money. Real forgiveness In a sound money economy required real loss of resources.
Sadly fiat forgiveness, which is getting rid of debt through inflation has muddled the Christian concept of forgiveness. Forgivness is seen as something that's free. It's not.

Appreciate your thoughts here. I believe both Forgiveness and Mercy require a love sacrifice. They can really only be achieved through dying to self.
