If I had to trace my deep-seeded distrust of government to one moment, it would be 19 years ago today when Katrina decimated New Orleans. Local and federal government alike fumbled. People relied on friends, family, and community.

I'll never forget that for as long as I live.

That was a spectacular gubmint failure, but this is what happens when people elect to escape the chaos of freedom for the hope of some savior.
