This is what happens when you stop giving kids consequences to even the smallest of their actions and MAKE them work hard regardless if they like it or not, it's not their choice. They're kids, they don't get choices. I'll even go as far to say, stop ASKING your kids what they want to eat, they eat what you put on the table. Otherwise you entitle minds that are solely focused on instant gratification and making life as easy and attention inducing as possible.
