This seems not good. Govt overreach. Don’t start letting govt pay your bills, govt should reduce your bills not pay them nostr:note15faj2jj6a97dggh8dxff3rlrg45kc93q5rgf3a3gkju3vgcuh9gs3r7v65

It's normalized in South America that dictators cynically, directly buy favor with freebies. They can't help it. It's ingrained in their culture that that is what politicians exist for. They yearn for the free lunches.

what if he follows this by saying, "use your money this month to buy #bitcoin"?

Again not good, leave people alone

in that society, when people were left alone, they murdered each other. in my view this is the govt repaying debt for not providing for the general welfare of the people. restitution can be appropriate.

no idea if that's what Bukele, but if so, I would fine it acceptable.

Less govt, more freedom

freedom can't exist on its own. duty must hold its hand. when people lose their sense of ought, which many did in ES, someone has to set them on the right path. Bukele is a strongman for sure, but benevolence and duty appears to be behind his actions.

Let’s hope so. Authoritarians start by conning the People they’re there to save them

it is definitely a risk, but could it really be any worse for the people of ES than the way it was before he took office?

Does the government control 100% of the electricity and water supplies? If so, then the government effectively is lowering taxes in proportion that the utility bills are a proportion of one’s income.

Solid take. 🫡🔥

The market can't do its thing when Govt gets in the way. This will end badly.
