Can anyone explain #relays to me? My #amethyst on Android shows 4, but only 2 seem to connect and do anything. Should I be adding relays? Would adding relays do anything??

Some relays seem to work intermittently. I'm probably not normal in this, but I have 26 relays and and it says 23 of them are working right now, on Amethyst. I have had some devs advise having fewer relays for a faster connection. I think having around 12 is advised. Here is a screenshot from nostr.band of the most popular relays right now:
Connecting to some of these, some of which I'm also connected to, would broadcast your notes wider, giving you more reach and meaning more people can see your notes that are also connected to these relays. More relays also mean your nostr client has more places to draw data/notes from so that you can see more notes from others. I hope this helps.
I just check someone's profile and his relays and added those. I'm on Plebstr tho. Idk how to get on a paid relay, I'd like to get to it later and refine the channels I'm connected to. More relays, more reach.
