Recently ended a friendship that had already extinguished itself naturally.

I didn't like the idea of letting it linger lukewarm, gradually growing in distance over years and years. We were changing, life was moving on.

When the friend got butthurt, asking what he did, I said "It was a good friendship, and now it's time", and I knew it was time.

a bit dramatic innit?

A tear jerker of a break up story

In the current age where everybody avoids all forms of conflict and discomfort, it probably seems dramatic.

Being genuine and honest is very dramatic to fakeness.

Odd.

What did you say?

That life might reenlist our friendship in the future but until then we should hang it up and not pretend.

Honesty is refreshing.

I guess you just a cunt

You don’t think he’s entitled to an explanation?

The reality of a relationship doesn't cease to exist if both parties ignore it.

For me it's better to accept, appreciate, and move on than to drag dozens of old relationships falsely into the future.

The reason is self evident: we were friends and are no longer friends.

I’ve got one of those that I should probably end too. Was a good friend for years, but now we simply have nothing in common to talk about
