People with no vision for the future get uneasy when they see others challenging the status quo because they are afraid of becoming obsolete. Their ego doesn’t allow them to consider that you see something they haven’t.

Envy is surely part of it too, and no doubt ignorance too. But for some (many?) ego drives their insistence on not being “wrong.”
