Does dominance correlate to price swings?

Usually the higher the spot price of Bitcoin, the less dominant it is because that’s when the alt coins run and they run harder than Bitcoin, some moving 1,000’s of percent and then the alt coin dominance starts to eat away at the Bitcoin dominance. Great question :-)

Is that an instantaneous effect or does it arrive after some repeatable time period?
