The manna prevented the Israelites from going hungry, being miraculously delivered by God in a time of extreme distress as they were on their way to the Promised Land.

Perhaps the most impressive feat was the division of manna that was performed by God, which allowed the people of Israel to be fed for 40 years.

That is, God not only delivered his people from the hands of the tyrannical rulers in Egypt, but he fed his people during the desert.
