It's also a bootloader that cannot be used with the new device... But this has been known for some time, workarounds are available as are multiple distros. Also, don't let the phone die, otherwise you need to plug it into a PC in dev mode to charge it again... :/

I'm all for Linux phones, 100%, I hope you take what I'm saying as dumping on the device, I mean, it's a beta/dev release anyway...
