S9 lost a fan blade today. I have a kit to upgrade to 140mm fans but the Noctua fans I purchased a while back didn’t have a plug that matched so I returned them. Where do you find the 140 mm fans with the correct plug? Noctua seems to be a good fan but their plugs don’t match the S9. They have a narrow channel guide where the S9 has a wide channel guide on the motherboard. #asknostr

Can you just rewire the plug?

I don’t know. I hated to damage a new fan trying. Looking to find out what others are doing. I see the videos where others had done updates.

check out this page if you havent already:

in the pdf tutorial you'll find an item: CRJ 3pin Computer Fan to 2 pin PSU. this is the item you need to buy, then follow instructions to convert. the video by nostr:nprofile1qqspnzgrfett3asxcuj0gksje6z2zxzpvgd27uvz58m9vsuqh8zzw6cpr9mhxw309a382emdv9hzumt8w4ujumn9wsargwp58qq3vamnwvaz7tmzv46xztnwdaehgunfdshxxctdqydhwumn8ghj7en9v4j8xtnwdaehgu3wvfskuep0w3hku7gpewmsc in the page i sent is very helpful too.

ive done this a few times now, happy to help amswer any questions 🤙

Thanks for the information. I didn’t realize you could swap out the ends. Guess I should have done more research.

it requires some dexterity, rethreading the pins. i found using the nail filing hook-end part of some nail clippers helped

Fair enough. Good luck.

Learned the plugs can be swapped. Just didn’t do enough research my first time around. 🤙🏻

Excellent, congratulations 👌🏼

i never did the upgrade and kept stock fans knowing id never recoup the cost

Yeah regretted it after I got the fans and they didn’t plug and play. I couldn’t return the adapters so I’ve held on. Now that a fan blade broke off, I thought I’d see what I could learn.

I can’t even find a 120mm Noctua fan that has the correct plug. I thought about filing down the fan plug so it fits but didn’t want to damage it so I sent it back. Just curious to see what others are doing. I hate to replace it with a cheap loud fan if I could use one of the Noctua fans that are supposed to be good and quiet.
