Here are some questions to ask detractors of Bitcoin who say the network is not sustainable, versus the current monetary system, based on it’s energy usage:
“What is the comparative cost in human lives, human energy, environmental damage and energy usage of unlimited war-fighting and unlimited taxation through inflation?”
“What is the comparative daily energy cost of all non national-defence-oriented military activities and all non voluntary taxation worldwide?”
You can't really compare those because bitcoin consumes electricity, and the military primarily consumes petroleum fuels.
