The 84-year-old man from Germany has been convicted of illegal weapons possession and has been fined €250,000 ($293,972) along with a suspended prison sentence of 14 months.
In addition to a tank, various weapons and ammunition were found, including a V-1 replica and a real torpedo.
The defence argues that many of the weapons are no longer functional and that the tank was bought as scrap. Meanwhile, prosecutors have suggested that some of the weapons and ammunition could still be used.
When asked his thoughts on the ownership of the tank, The Mayor of the city replied, "One loves steam trains, the other old tanks."
