Dose anyone have experience using https://obsidian.md/

Ive been happily using StandardNotes for a few years now, but the whole markdown and graph thing obsidian has looks really tempting

Obsidian is great. I’m not a power user but if you’re unfamiliar this should help:

thanks for the video. Haven't watch it all yet but I've already got some useful ideas from it :)

I really really like Obsidian and have used it for years purely down to the simplicity of it and I would really recommend it… it comes across very basic at the start but the more you use it, the more it grows as well as the customisation of it.. I have moved over to TanaOS beta for the past couple of months though only to give it a try!

How do you handle sensitive information in obsidian? when I tested it it looks like it stores all of the notes as markdown files in a folder on your system.

Is there any plugin to encrypt all or some of the notes?

I personally haven’t dug that deep into how to protect the information, purely because the information for myself wasn’t too sensitive… I liked that the files are created in markdown and saved on your own system from a privacy standpoint because I was think they were more privacy with me, locally, rather than someone else’s server.

I’ve just had a look at the plugins now and there’s one called Meld Encrypt which has over 36,000 downloads, this seems to allow you to create encrypted notes.

I use it and it’s been extremely helpful.

I do use it across all devices while retaining everything including settings/plugins/customizations

I dumped my Obsidian notes on my crap account here if ya need ✌️(I upped my scripts since I tried it but for the most part...)

I had a quick look at Obsidian years ago.

I was (and still am) using Roam Research daily.

I would switch to Logseq.

Obsidian did (does?) not have block references. That's why I never used it... Block references are extremely useful to me.

Yes. The graph features is nice but it can’t sync nicely across devices nor share with others. When I get started on Blowater, my original goal is to make a Notion+Obsidian on Nostr.
