Want to start my own computer company that provides enterprise level services to churches and residential people. The only competition I’ve found is Geek Squad. Why do you think that is?

Difficult market fit - similar to how many small businesses don’t have the budget for a full accountant, lots of churches and residential people don’t have the budget for lots of computing or computer support.

With that said, I think it’s a very valuable service and I’m sure you can find people who could pay for it. I work at a small business, and I know that many businesses still struggle greatly with managing their network and point of sale technology. If you incorporated some of that into your company in addition to the regular computer work I doubt you’d ever run out of demand.

I appreciate the in site! A lot of what you’ve said is in my business model. I’m kind of a jack of all trades, but my specifically is business application architecture. How to configure softwares to maximize efficiency, get the most out of your software, and avoid overlapping software functionality. That’s actually my preferred kind of work. But I can do everything.

To start I want to do most of my work in regard to churches for free, and do free work for other entrepreneurs. While I want to have a business and work for myself, all that I have skill wise is a gift from God, and I don’t want to use it only for monetary gain. I want to use it to support others.

Figuring out what is the lowest I can charge for services, and how to make it sustainable for growth is the hardest part.
