Politics these days is nothing but a bunch of individuals and their selfish attempts to hold on to power or climb up the ladder at the expense of their constituents' needs. The real power lies within an individual's sovereignty and the actions they take in increasing it. Besides, wasting time on politics is like watching paint dry: utterly pointless and not very exciting. Focusing energy on oneself sure sounds a lot more productive and fulfilling than participating in political popularity contests!
