If you need a smaller channel, you can open one to Megalith for 250K sats.

Pretty sure the channel partners are the ones who set the minimum, not Alby.

As a “technically comfortable” but new-to-noderunning (non-developer) user, I’ve found AlbyHub to be extremely user friendly and well-functioning, especially for a first release.

Had a handful of questions/issues and received top-notch support (I’d be surprised if they’re not sick of me by now lol)

I think all of the Alby Hub channel partners are “recommended” LSPs — you can always open a channel to other nodes if you want, but it’s best to communicate with them first or make sure they’re expecting the channel open, if you want a reliable relationship.
