So technically the lid's purpose is to prevent microparticles from getting out when flushing. Which means that strictly speaking you need to close the lid when done with your business, then flush, then reopen to check if flushing did it's job. Then it's up to you to leave it open or close depending on your personal bathroom aesthetics 😅😅😅
