Is it possible to use an nfc card to pay LN invoices? I feel like that might be necessary for mass adoption

Necessarily you have to have a "hot wallet" to have a lightning wallet. I am not sure of the question exactly, like can an NFC card copy and paste a Lightning invoice? Because you preload NFC cards with information and the purchaser is the one receiving info, not giving it. The closest to this is an on-chain Satscard but that's not lightning.

I wonder if you could scan the card, and then the POS communicates with your wallet/node to pay the invoice on the POS. I don’t think it could be done today

It is absolutely possible and already implemented. The trouble with mass adoption is getting the mass to run their own servers.

Yeah that is a problem. We just need as many of us to share our nodes with friends and family as possible

Look into LN bits, iirc they have everything on the LN side to make it work. Also a app to read/write to nfc cards is needed.

You also could use a nfc ring if you want to make it extra fancy😂

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I totally forgot about LNBits and Boltcard.

I wish there were places around me that accepted BTC 😭

Yeah a NFC card only makes more sense if you have some merchants accepting BTC
