I think that everything with nostr is going to happen when it’s supposed to happen so I’m not pressed but also why aren’t people signing up in droves right now?

I think that the corporate providers are branding themselves as freedom tech and that most people don’t know the difference. Is Nostr not marketing well? I’m not trying to be mean I’m just trying to figure out where the disconnect is.
I wonder the same. I can only assume it's because they are complacent in the current social network framework.
I don’t think that they know that there is another option, sadly.
I've tried recruiting but people either don't want to or end up quitting after a while. For whatever reason.
imo its a combo of the three. Floks dont know other options exist, facebook and the rest "just work" so why change, and the branding is off. Not that freedom tech is a bad image its just that most people dont give a shit.
All that said though im not in a massive rush for people to flood into nostr it will happen when it happens
We need to get the Trojan horse among the normies!
I was bored at work, so here's one free to use. #nostr #memestr

Most nostr users, and most devs, have not figured out the importance of content creators and artists. They have their heads up their asses.
In the post scarcity future, it’s going to be what most humans do with their time. Figuring out how to help people make a decent income doing this work is critical to the future
Some say that it will get better/easier as nostr scales, by which I assume they mean more users. That makes sense to some degree. But why is Nostr’s user base not scaling now? Seems like a bit of a chicken and egg situation. I think building apps and tools for artists/creators to engage with their audiences and monetize their content is the best place to start. Might even make sense for someone building such a client to partner with creators in a financial way to bring their content here. It’s not going to happen if people can’t make money doing it.
I’ve done some work for a few YouTubers recently and they told me that Nostr is cool but without a large enough audience the “keep more of your income” thing isnt a winning argument. And they’re barely scraping by as is with YouTube constantly changing their algorithm.
And all the other great things about Nostr require there to be a lot of content (algo choice, zaps, never goes down, censorship resistance, etc)
It’s definitely a chicken and egg problem.
I think the only way out is apps that can ONLY be built on Nostr that will thrive. Things that are impossible for X or Insta or YouTube to do.
That can be a bigger base audience than just people who care about freedom tech. And can attract increasing number of folks to other stuff
In other words, good incentives and good apps/features geared toward creators will bring more content, and more good content will bring more people interested in that content, especially if it’s exclusively here. But very very very few people are going to spend any serious amount of time creating and posting exclusively to nostr if there is no incentive to do so. And the measly little zaps people typically send are simply no incentive.
💯
Doing this a lot of time now (with some breaks). I post only on #nostr. Buuut no many incentives...
Boost from other people and zaps would help a lot
I’d agree with all of that. I’d say that if someone was willing to wait and build slowly they could here but it would be a gamble. It would take someone very patient and who doesn’t care about money.
Stockholm Syndrome
It's the "bitcoiner attitude" that keeps new folks away.
HFSP
BITCOIN DOESNT CARE
IF YOU DONT GET IT I DONT HAVE TIME TO EXPLAIN
ETC
Then add in devs forcing the use of sign in extensions....
Then add in you have to pay for file hosting to manage your content....
Then add in some clients force feeding bitcoin people/ posts like FB does with ads....
But... what would I know. Not like I've tried to get over 100 others on nostr and kept track of their issues...🙃
The masses only do what's right after all other options are exhausted.
