I can't honestly call it virtue-signaling. Its doormat-signalling.

Farmed bugs aren't even good for the environment. The feed conversion ratio is woeful compared to catfish or even turkeys, and most of the bugs much-touted protein is indigestible chitin.

But some elites love humiliating the masses, and some of the masses want to be humiliated.

(The actual potential is in converting actual organic waste into aquaculture feed. One of my clients in that space.)
