Ideas like this are helpful and constructive. We need more of them. Nostr will not grow into a mainstream platform if it becomes a "you have to buy another phone" platform. The big thinkers on here will overcome restrictions thrown in their path - regardless of the source - and will overcome it and make it better than it was before.

That's the power of Nostr, and the power of Open Source.

PWAs solve this. Nobody has to buy a new phone, until Apple decides to nose in on your browser use. If you let them set the rules, they will always win.

There are many solutions. PWAs have their issues, but I think it's a good first step. We should never quit looking at ideas though.

One thing growing up during the pirated music and movies era taught me, is continuous circumvention will change the market.

Yes, circumvention. Not compliance.

Will is walking a good line here so far. Appear to comply on one hand and keep pushing the line. Enough apps getting submitted, and enough arguments with Apple sends signal that the market wants this.

Develop a way around it in another channel. His discussion of a rust pwa.

If he follows through with both, I'll call him a wiley son-of-a-gun. Damus can serve as both a gateway for the average pleb, and a signal to Apple, without taking anything away from fuller featured apps online.

This.
