Some comfort knowing that it is true. It’s not 1 and it’s not 3. I can test for myself. I can see what others test. When we find truth like this, we can use the truth to better explain and understand the world around us. I may not like the truth, but I know it is.

Agreed. Humans can bullshit themselves but we cannot lie to ourselves regarding something we know to be true. It would lead to discomfort to force a thinking where 1+1=3 because we know that’s not the truth.
