Its a complete alternative implementation of the Bitcoin standards written in C++. Sp unlike Knots it *isn't a fork of Core.

I think Amir started it, I know he was an active developer for a long time.

Erik Voriskuil is the lead maintainer now.

Those are the famous guys anyway.
