true. the issue is the labels not the DSPs. there is no pure play DSP in history - including spotify - that has been profitable. add to that that most artists don’t recover their advance. the ‘blame spotify’ rhetoric is misplaced. there are 4 constituents in the game: artists (losing money), users (paying money), DSPs (losing money), and labels/publishers (making money). more to the convo than meets the eye.
