I get the sense that the fight for privacy 'over there' is becoming a lost battle.

Long time privacy advocates are expressing frustration on what's happening with age verification, chat control, etc. and are at a loss on how to fix it.

Meanwhile, over here on #nostr, I feel like we are just getting started. Lots of building to be done, but there is a sense of optimism, unlike 'over there.'

If this gets any traction, they be comming for it. Or it could be got as a collateral damage to something else. We will be back to the dark ages

More accurately, we’re at the cusp of the Digital Spanish Inquisition. I consider the 13th century was the height of decentralization before all those religious, state and financial institutions got too powerful.

Feels like a lot of capitulation happening "over there".

Yeah, I get that vibe. I am on a mailing list where the sentiment seems to be 'what happened?'
