There are many stories that shit coiners tell periodically to paint #bitcoin “maxis” as low IQ dunces.

I will occasionally correct the record to ensure we have receipts in the future.

So today, the El Salvador experiment…

Most bitcoin maxis have been excited since the country of El Salvador adopted a bitcoin standard in September of 2021.

Our hope is the adoption of bitcoin as a medium of exchange and treasury reserve asset will improve the lives of all the people living in El Salvador.

Bitcoin, on a personal and nation state level, has a tendency to improve the hodler in more ways than NGU.

It seems, in El Salvador, the following issues could or have already been improved:

1. Name Recognition, News Cycle Coverage. Prior to bitcoin adoption, El Salvador was rarely covered and typically the coverage had to do with a high murder rate.

2. Tourism

3. Jobs

4. Education

5. Infrastructure Improvement

6. Become Independent of the US and IMF

7. Improved ability to repay debt

8. Reduce crime rate by being able to offer better jobs to people who would other wise join a gang out of necessity.

It’s too early to tell how the experiment will end, but we remain hopeful that bitcoin will improve the lives of the people of El Salvador.

With respect to the government of El Salvador, bitcoiners are cautiously optimistic regarding President Bukele.

His approval rating seems to be high among the people, but we are not blind to the fact that many countries in Central America have been destroyed by dictators.

The crack down on crime was necessary, but holding people without a trial is of course concerning.

Changing the law to run a 2nd term and “stacking” the court are also concerning.

Reportedly, there is also a crack down on free and independent media, however, I am unsure if this has been verified? If so, obviously this would be very concerning.

Our hope is President Bukele continues to improve himself and his government and ultimately there will be a transition of power.

Of course, we are concerned…because he is a human and we are imperfect.

In short, we remain excited for the country of El Salvador and it’s people, but in a country that has struggled for the last 100 years, we have no idea what the next chapter looks like.

In the end, I will remain hopeful.

*I don’t speak for all bitcoiners.*

TLDR: On bitcoin and El Salvador, bitcoin “maxis” are hopeful, but have concerns.

Continuous effort needed but I like the progress there.
