You mean if you try to download them from WhatsApp, through the web interface or something?

Didn't think of that, should be possible to get codec information that way and get close to what they achieve.

Yep, most videos people are trying to post on Amethyst come from What'sApp and they fail in many of the image hosting services we have today in Nostr.

Never noticed it before, but it indeed is quite something to see a 500MB video (150 seconds 1920x1200) getting compressed down to ~30MB in about 5 seconds.
