I'm sending some bitcoin to my satoshi wallet. About 30 bucks with a 30 cent fee. Very small fee I know.

Now my phone knows there is some SATs on the way. It's been telling me that for three days now. While I'm tempted to up the fee...

I'm curious can I turn my laptop off now the network has started sending?

Also. What has been the slowest transaction ever? :-)

Im on a month with a very low fee..

Beating that will be my new years resolution.

Did you have to leave the sending computer on the whole time?

No

Once the transaction has been broadcast to the mempool you are free to do whatever.

And the receiving wallet finds out from the mempool? I.e. if it knows then I can be sure the transaction is in the mempool?

From the mempool the transaction will eventually* be put inside a new block, transfering the funds to the receiver, which is basically the start of final settlement. No inputs from sender/receiver needed once the transaction is in the mempool.
