Punk in that era actually reminds me of Nostr now. I feel like before that punk had been highacked into a silo. Bands like Violent Femmes, Porno For Pyros, The Pixies and others really expanded the punk universe while bands such as Black Flagg held it down old school style.
I am no punk, though I am the producer of PunkAcolypse Festival. I am a metal head purist at the core. Probably the best crossovers for me are Mr. Bungle, The Melvin's and Tool.
