Hey fiatjaf, I was thinking about this, what if a relay uses its subscribers for content rating (zaps boosting only) and thus over time only stores those messages with the most zaps and likes? This way the relay is dependent on a majority of the subscribers to make a decision, but only a boosting decision.
Boosting might be done on the relay side, because it involves actual money incentives, and filtering may be done on the client side.
This is a great idea. I wish more relays did this. It might be even extended by pushing content to their subscribers and they push it further. Altough idk particularly bout this one...
Another suggestion of mine would be to merge all reposts of a given event together and put it on top, ranked on most unread repostings, with the score decreasing as you scroll trough more and more recent posts. (When clicking at the ranked message on the top, you should be able to scroll that (aka the latest repost) into view, and after that only the original post will be shown.)
If there is something that is annoying, its those cluttering reposts. Now, we (client and relay) could effectively use them as a rating signal.)
I like this too, because that's the purpose of the re-post. I don't support them in coracle, but treating them as an "upvote" could be good.
