Significantly more women have been married than men. 😬

Four men have no wife, one man has four wives.

Like polygamy, but time-delayed.

I think people greatly underestimate how much high remarriage rates skew the entire marriage market. 40% of US marriages include someone who has been married before.

People just get married over and over, whilst many other people never marry. The whole thing is bizarre.

Bizarre indeed. My older siblings have been married multiple times. Talk about polyagony. 😹

"Polyagony" haha

Marital Groundhog Day 😅

All of our romantic stories are about two singles meeting and marrying, but 2/5 times, at least one of them has already been married at least once.

Meanwhile, 25% of over-40 year-olds have never married and most of them are living alone.

Typical for polygamous societies is a high never-married rate, especially amongst men, and that's what we're seeing.

Tired of being seen. Just want to soak my way into single 40s

According to Joseph D. Unwin who 1934 published a book called "Sex and Culture" dealing with the correlation between a society's level of "cultural achievement" and its level of sexual restraint.

His study of 80 cultures throughout history led him to the conclusion, that as cultures/societies develop, they become more sexual liberal, which leads to a loss of cohesion, impetus, and purpose. What inevitably follows is the succeeding decline of this culture/society.

He was probably thinking about Berlin.

I'll be frank.

I see no material difference between a Christian having two living spouses, that they've slept with one after the other, and a Muslim or Mormon doing the same. It's the same picture.

The material difference is that the latter violates the natural law but former violates a sacred covenant.

That's true. 🤔

Time-delayed polygamy. Stealing that. It will probably make its way into a sermon.

Make sure you mention the stats. People often think it's an exception thing (especially in a conservative congregation, where everything still seems relatively normal) and it's like whatever, but when you hear the actual society-wide numbers, it's like daaaammmmmnnnn.
