You can switch it off and it's free. For all the money I spent on the Atari 2600, T-994a, TRA-80, Windows 98, Me, XP, Game Boy, Palm Pilot, and even the Kindle I certainly wasted that money and ended up with nothing.

The best games I played were open source and free. Still wasted time on those.

Dungeons and Dragons -- Lots of wasted money and time.

The real game is life and it's playable in a fantastic way of collaboration with God. All else is a waste of time, especially when it's just you and a computer or you and your fantasy.
