I deleted twitter 6 years ago and I'm still skeptical of this architecture working at scale.

I tend to think monetization of relays will be helpful, and while that is working well for me as a user atm, it remains to be seen if enough people will be willing to pay, or whether the tendency towards centralized entities and hidden costs will just keep reasserting itself.
