During a mid life crisis in 2016, I tried to self learn a few chords on a crappy €50 strat copy. In 2017 I started recording stuff into my computer through a cheapo soundcard. This is an example. I still have no idea where it came from or how to play it.

Then I bought a second hand copy of the guitar Angus Young plays/ed, scuffed it up a bit and recorded a track home alone. That felt better. I eventually plucked up the courage to play the recording to a time-served rock and blues man who had given me a couple of lessons.

Half way through he turned it off and asked “Where the hell did this come from?”

I answered, “The first lesson, you asked me if I wanted to learn music or tracks. Remember, I chose music?”

He smiled, said I'd played a couple of notes he couldn't reproduce on his guitar and put the headphones back on.

I still have no idea where it came from and apart from a couple of chords, I still couldn't play it again.

it's nice

jazz and blues are all about improvisation

but IMO you use that to find the melodies and then you write poetry that it brings out of you

it can go in the opposite direction but whichever thing lets you ree the best is where you sholud point your process

Very enlightened view. Cheers

However I don't hear any poems in those tracks.

I used to play with a band and the singer rearranged the second one ( commercialised it!!) and came up with lyrics, but for the life of me I can't remember a line or word or harmony. That was in my memory loss period!

Moving along with the blasts from my musical past, I'll just add to this thread, keep it all together without having the effort and embarrassment of a formal "marketplace".

These next two came out of Covid, my schizo period! I tried tracks that don't end as demurely as they start.

I maintained the same hot chocolate rhythm on a beast SG 400

and found a couple of new buttons on the mixer.

If Neil Young can crank it up and have fun in overdrive, why can't we?

Another track towards the #12songsofChristmas thread- Leicester Rock - I was thinking Kasabian with this one! https://cdn.satellite.earth/48ff0348f063153cc111821600e81beaebc7fc96353140fc41aaed360e222998.mp3

Hope someone out there likes it. I'm not one of those arty types who needs endorsing else "Christmas is ruined" - but if you've heard worse or have any ideas on improving on the idea feel free to let rip...

You have a beautiful soul 🙏☺

Really? I wasn't expecting that. I'll take it though, and frame it. Cheers.

Yeah! Enjoyed all 4, first two especially
