Does the Ethereum-based Warpcast have its own version of lightning payments? #asknostr

Lightning is a layer-2 network over Bitcoin. I don't know what Warpcast is, but there are several Layer-2s over Ethereum that would be better comparisons.

Warpcast is a client for Farcaster, a #Nostr clone based on Ethereum

But does Ethereum have some equivalent of lightning network?

Ethereum has Layer 2 chains like Optimism and Arbitrum that have cheaper fees and faster speeds. But Lightning is much more decentralized

Awesome šŸ‘. Warpcast and its base protocol Farcaster are based on Optimism

Umm, I’m a noob. What do you mean that lightning is decentralized? You mean the LN nodes architecture?

Yep! Ethereum layer-2 chains like Optimism and Arbitrum are centralized which is why they can be fast and cheap. The transactions eventually settle on Ethereum so there's decentralization there, but first all of the transactions are centrally processed.

Lightning is all peer-to-peer, so there's no monolithic centralized server to handle the transactions.
