I'll be honest, I'm a Christian, in that, I was Christened as a child, it wasn't my doing though. I'm largely, an atheist now. I do however, marvel at people who keep their faith. What makes Jesus more righteous than Muhammad or The Buddah or any other given religion you could care to mention?

I personally feel that there is no need to compare, or worry about believing, picking any favorite. People are just not mature and wise enough to grok it. Words fail us, because our minds get tangled. We should listen to our hearts. The problem with everyone taking statements like that wrong is the verbalist perception, i.e. concentrating on the form of expression (delivery), rather than the underlying message (reading between the lines). The message of Jesus is that of being humble, accepting and loving people. Everything else is politics. Religion has been turned into a tool for the purpose of dividing people. Atheists believe in something that doesn't exist. I know for a fact that I exist, and I find the message of loving what exists a good choice. Everything else is horse shit and manipulation. I don't like religions, fanatics, they are like sports clubs and hooligans. I like being religious, in love with life.
As I say, I'm a "Christian" but I just don't believe in God. Pretty much all religions are peaceable and that's a good thing, it's just the lunatic fringe of each of them who cause all the problems. Are the 10 commandments a good code to live your life by? They absolutely are and anyone who chooses to follow a religion is fine by me.
