Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a guard, were martyred for their faith. Ermil was openly Christian, and when confronted, he boldly confessed Christ. Stratonic, secretly a Christian, wept openly at Ermil's torture, revealing his belief. Both refused to renounce their faith, enduring severe torments. Ermil was scourged and drowned in the Danube. Stratonic was tortured and then beheaded.
