nostr:npub1z3w0lndch3mrfr4w8rxmcg7xdm4zke34akysmd7psenp6jfnnv9sm68qvr networking is important here too.

in sales, cold calling people (no prior contact) is the least efficient and least pleasant way of selling your product. having a network and selling a product that fits their needs is much easier, but having such a network is often if not always a matter of luck and circumstances.

applying for jobs without knowing anyone is basically like that, but for the job market. you have to sell your labour to complete strangers.

i had to do that when i first moved to Oslo. i ended up taking mostly low hanging fruit jobs for web development. all the cool jobs had very specific requirements - often, jobs ads like that are written for specific people they have in mind already, so you were never really eligible, but they're just scouting in case someone *really* good applies.
