Mastic tree yields natural chewing gum. There are female and male trees and only the males yield the gum. Around 400 grams of gum can be harvested from trees that are 15+ years of age.

Mastic gum gives great flavor to desserts, helps with digestion and was used as toothpaste cause of its dental benefits. It was well known by Hippocrates.
