Yes. And I’m legitimately trying to help him get people to pay for his work, what is so offensive about that?
Discussion
You’re not coming across in that manner.
Okay, well here’s some backstory for ya…
Fishcake was already invited to a discussion on this topic, and informed by nostr build about that discussion, but has decided to implement new features instead of just listening to the paying users suggestions.
Now I see this post where fishcake is calling out creators, a specific tier of paying users on nostr.build, and basically saying we don’t pay enough to support his development.
I tried to make those same discussion points again in my first post, calling out fishcake for biting the hand that feeds because he’s not a marketer or salesperson, and now here we are.
I don’t really care how I come across, I’ve made my points and take it or leave it, fishcake and do what he wants, but the free market is a rough world and I’d like to see good services survive, but I won’t support someone who tells paying users offering legitimate suggestions to go fuck themselves while complaining they aren’t getting paid.
Not sure what your point here is. I am not employed by nostr or anyone here, period. Paying customers get their money worth now, including free support. I am not available to jump on every discussion at random time, I active a daytime paying job. And again, what is the issue, I still struggle to understand. If you want your money back, I’ll just pay you out of my pocket. I am not dependent on the nostr income, far from it, I am paying my own money and time to it. I am a paying customer of Nostr where yet I have to also pay with my time and skills. I hope my point gets across. I do not mean to offend anyone, but I have my limits too 🐶🐾🫡
Dude I don’t want my money back lol. 😂
I’m a paying customer of nostr as well.
The issue is that you’re upset people aren’t paying for a valuable service. I’m just trying to convey some options to find the tipping point to encourage the free market to find value in a product and pay for it.
For new subscribers, the free and paid versions are too similar of a service to encourage subscription.
For existing subscribers most of whom are “donate to developers” types, the upgrade page is too limiting, and sats pricing being more than last year is jarring, when bitcoin is considered deflationary. Suggestions have been made and relayed. But users/subscribers will make their own choice on if they find the value or not.
Dude he is completely over people ‘complaining’!
There are those that complain for a good reason and there’s others that simply complain only to want to keep complaining!
I understand how he feels. He is stating his feelings here and you cannot dismiss that nor change the way he feels.
🐶🐾🤣 makes sense. Beyond choking the free offering to the point of unusable, it is yet impossible for one person to implement all good features. And adding more will inflate costs further, making lower paying tiers and impossibility.
Maybe it should be unusable. Maybe the idea of free media uploads to nostr is a pipe dream that feeds an insatiable beast.
Media is the fuel for the social network fire. Maybe if each media upload had a small zap requirement, then there would be a sustainable market.
Or maybe the only way such a service survives is with an angel investor type paying all the bills. Because maybe nostr dies without such a service…
why not have the clients pay monthly for using nostr.build services on their client?
Because I doubt Damus can afford to pay for that either, considering it’s mostly free too.
I kind of agree with you on that point. The problem is that paying with BTC sucks for normal people. It is hard to get, and hard to spend without jumping through hoops.
I do think having a usable free offer is important for nostr now, otherwise a lot of people would not be here. 🐶🐾🫡
Should integrate the strike API so that people can pay with fiat and let strike do the conversions to sats for the service.
Primal is funded by VC and has full time working staff. They have strike integration, and it works. 🐶🐾🫡
Strike integration doesn’t need the full time staff, pretty sure their documentation is pretty readily available and open and their team is willing to help out other developers.
That’s a great option for a client. I will take a look at their integration later, when I have time. 🐶🐾🫡
I like Tortuga. all his arguments are on point.
You must also know that the best services come out when there is competition. What are the alternatives for nostr.build?
Not all are ‘on point’, however it’s always constructive to have some debates.
nostrcheck.me, nostrimg.com, satellite.earth, primal.net, void.cat etc! 🐶🐾🫡
Nostr.build removes meta data. I think that has value by itself. He's not using CDN cloudflare like primal does. So its optimal to use nostr.build just think if u need to remove meta data holding private information about govt if your a journalist
Normal people do not see or care about it, which is expected. They only care when things don’t work, and we are all guilty of it ourselves 🐶🐾🫂💜
No. We care about it. In a comparison framework of various hosting services that'd be a major feature for me. :)
I care...sir
A lot of people aren't aware of evil cloudflare finger printing devices. Think of it this way-- before you enter a store you need to show/scan ID before you buy a carton of milk. The difference is the ID is now ur device. So your meta removing data media hosting has value. It allows one to be anonymous who may have loads to lose(especially to far left-or just journalism in general). And I humbly thank you for your hard work. You should be funded properly in my eyes.
