I almost always avoid adding weights to my strength workouts. But a lot of our high school guys do have fun adding weight vests, ankle weights, etc.

I just think additional weight opens up the door to more injuries. Gymnasts have neverending ways of making workouts with just our own body weight harder, so I've just always preferred/prioritized going that route.

I totally understand. I'm not a competitive gymnast, though friends and family have been. Anything past 5 reps isn't really strength anymore and I do like 20+ Dips on a platform or rings so it's like, why? Why not add weight, do a proper progression for weeks, follow by a deload? That being said, my goals are just different so I add weight, but it's not really a strength movement.
