I have a friend who grew them, I will ask her. They were delicious!

Awesome! Just need to source some starter tubers

She is looking. She doesn’t have any of hers right now, but she’s looking and will get back with me. BBIT

Nothing good comes from jerusalem.

Sun chokes do not come from Jerusalem.

Pretty sure they're native to North America

Missed the sarcasm

one of the best nurseries I know of says he regrets introducing it to his property. he sells them tho.

Yes I have shitloads of sun chokes but I don't know if postage would be worth it. Where are you located? I'm sure you'll be able to find people closer than me

I’ve got plenty and would be happy to dig some up and send them to you. But it’s better to do it in the fall. Sun chokes use the energy they store in the tubers to push through the soil and grow rapidly in the spring. After flowering, the process reverses and the plant starts storing energy in tubers so it can survive the winter and grow rapidly in the spring. Right now they are pretty depleted and I think you’ll have better success with tubers harvested in the fall.

BTW, if they ever start to take over an area, just keep mowing them down every few days and they’ll eventually run out of energy and die.

🫡 fantastic! I will set a calendar reminder to hit you up for some starter tubers in the fall

These have been up for about a month. That’s a 5 foot high fence for scale. My average last frost date is around the middle of November. I usually harvest the day after the first hard freeze.

Those are beautiful

Every couple years I cook em up and remember why I don’t do that.
