I’m taking on the challenge of #NoSmartphoneNovember! 📵📴 I’ve been putting it off for a while, but now it’s time to see what life would really be like without my smartphone. Here will be my main tech for November. I’m following this guide by nostr:npub16vj9tyswtcujxk8yleewk48uh3hj5kj0s557j4rxu80f6rluqcsqwvqf2s https://insanelyfree.substack.com/p/living-without-a-smartphone-the-definitive to help me through the process. I do enjoy Amethyst a lot on mobile wonder whats the best way to get it working on Linux? Anbox or Virtualbox? Anyone use Amethyst on desktop? Wish me luck!

Never thought of this till you noted so I went looking around and found this

Yea the smartphone is a trap of convenience. A lot can be done on the laptop and when I'm away from it I'll should be more present. Goal is to see if I see any noticeable differences in productivity, mental health, attention span alongside the privacy improvements of ditching the smartphone.

A strange thing we were discussing on a nest was the fact that we are on our cell phones all day yet we dont know of anyone that dreams about them. Not sure why when we dream about all other forms of technology.

Probably because its become literally part of us like a third arm.

nice guide. we'll miss you, but ofc you do you. good luck! also, is that an mp02 punkd. phone? how do you like it?

I'll check in on the laptop but probably won't be as active on here. Yea I found a used one on eBay for a decent price. The new price is kind of nuts for what it is. It has signal messaging which is cool because its already my main messenger app. Voice messages and phone calls through pidgeon the signal app on here work so I'll be mainly using that. At the end of the month I'll let you know how it held up. I honestly wish someone still made a Blackberry type device that had limited functionality just signal, email and a up to date browser. Would of been perfect for what I want.

gotcha. sounds cool. looking forward to updates 🫡💜

How is this experiment going? I guess you could pick up these old er digital cameras for cheap now.

Try Primal or Snort in the Browser. Need Alby or Nos2x extension to keep your private key safe for signing messages. Use it in a different browser than your usual one or even a different profile.
