I WILL SAY THIS about our oft-times cheesy evangelical youth group activities: I'm grateful for the "underground church" nights. I think we all knew somewhere deep down that we were actually practicing for the inevitable future, and not merely "getting a taste if what it's like *over there*".

I've been out of touch with the evangelical youth group world for a while. What's "underground church" night?

High school group, so some can drive. They have to make it to a clandestine location without being caught by (chaperones playing) authorities--or real authorities (no speeding, etc). Fake checkpoints. "Jail". Only one is given the location, he has to communicate it somehow (this was before everyone had a phone). At the end, prisoners are brought in and interrogated. Wrap with a devotional about the persecuted church, etc.

Our church started our local fellowship groups back up after the lockdowns ended.

My wife and I get the same feeling you do... these will be how we meet in the not too distant future.
