I have created a Secure Seed Storage: A Step-by-Step Guide for Safeguarding Cryptocurrency Seeds Using Shamir's Secret Sharing and V4A Stainless Steel

1. πŸ”’ **Seed Splitting:** Use Shamir's Secret Sharing to split your seed into three sections.

2. πŸ” **Engraving:** Engrave each seed section onto a separate washer made of durable V4A stainless steel.

3. πŸ”© **Assembly:** Secure each engraved washer onto a stainless steel screw with a matching nut.

4. πŸ“¦ **Encasement:** Carefully place the assembled washers into a robust metal case.

5. πŸ›‘οΈ **Protection:** Apply corrosion-resistant oil to the assembled washers and the inside of the case to protect them from oxidation.

6. πŸ” **Sealing:** Seal the case and mark it with a security seal for identification.

**Tips:**

- πŸ—οΈ Store the case in a secured location.

- 🀝 Inform a trusted person about the location information.

- 🚫 Avoid making digital copies of the seed phrase.

- πŸ”„ Regularly check the condition of your seeds and the case.

**Material choice:**

V4A stainless steel is used for the washers because it offers excellent corrosion resistance and is stronger than other materials like V2A stainless steel or aluminum. The robust metal case provides additional protection for the seed sections.

Two small suggestions/options for people to consider:

1) An eye bolt creates a handy loop if you ever need/want to attach it to something and also gives a clear directionality/order to the washers (though you probably already numbered the words too)

2) You won’t be opening it often, but nevertheless a wingnut can make opening it easier and tool-free

Good points!

1️⃣ An eye bolt can not only assist in fastening things but also be a useful orientation aid.

2️⃣ A wingnut - a clever solution for quick, tool-less access.

Practical considerations for user-friendliness! πŸ”§πŸ‘ #DIY #PracticalTips

I truly appreciate it, thank you for sharing these wonderful variations.

Just make sure all the metals as similar... Don't use any coated bolts, dissimilar metals can increase corrosion... Also why wouldn't you use titanium? Is it the expense?

You're right! Using dissimilar metals can promote galvanic corrosion, a serious issue that should be absolutely avoided. When choosing materials, always pay attention to high corrosion resistance. πŸ”©πŸš«

Titanium would indeed be a great choice due to its corrosion resistance, but yes, the expense could be a hurdle. It's always a balancing act between cost and benefit. πŸ”©πŸ’°
