This is #[1] at Les Grandes Bergeronnes, Québec, Canada. Taken on New Year’s Day 2015.
This place is my favourite place on earth thus far. This is is where roughness and softness meet. The vibe, in winter just as in summer transports you in a state of inner peace that I have never felt elsewhere before. There is something about this place. I don’t know what it is. It gives you instant inner calm.
In summer, we get spoiled with a ballet of whales, a few hundred feet from this granit shore. No need to get on noisy polluting speedboats to watch them. This is a time of peaceful communion between wildlife and mankind.
On clear nights, you can sleep on the rocks and see the Milky Way so clearly while listening to a concert of whales blows spread miles apart.
In winter, the grand spectacle of ices dancing on the St Lawrence hypnotizes you and if you are watching close enough, a curious seal will point its head out in between two plates of ice. You can walk on a multitude paths of snow within forests of spruce in a complete silence.
Going there every year in both those seasons is a resourceful moment to look forward to. Hopefully this year I will go with #[2] and his sister. My dear children.
