Interesting question... I'm not sure how their law would treat a citizen running this server from Aus, while attempting to place the physical server outside of Aus, and then also still permitting Aus connections from users. Probably not great.

Yeah I think they would have had to sell the site / service to someone overseas. I’m in NZ and sex work is also legal here. I wonder…..

Sex work was legalised in Victoria last year - it was horsetraded for the pandemic powers bill the Government wanted to continue its authoritarianism.

They could have hosted and operated it here if they wanted to.

Unlikely. Sex Work and promotion of sex work are different things, entirely. Most places with legal sex work are very hard on those who offer services like security or housing or promotion.

Wouldn’t a Nostr relay for all those users be equally difficult to operate in Australia because of these new laws?
