Yes sycing is a lot depending of your rpi model and data storage. What type disk do you have ? You absolutely need an SSD

I am just doing it though the raspberry pi 5 itself right now I have a usb based SSD could that help
Yes I have the same setup and itnm worked well. Did you install Umbrel or Start9?
umbrel as I did not hear of start9 till now
